The Elimination of Certain Documents for Obtaining Employment Permits for Foreign Citizens

Through an announcement, the General Inspectorate for Immigration (IGI) has stated that, starting from September 20, 2023, several documents previously required for individuals applying for appointments to submit applications for obtaining employment permits for foreign workers will be removed from the IGI Portal application. This new measure is taken to support employers interested in hiring foreign workers. Additionally, IGI aims to simplify procedures and reduce administrative burdens on employers.

Therefore, the following documents are no longer required in the IGI Portal application, in the employment permit module for permanent workers (individuals, legal entities, change of employer):

  • Certificate regarding available workforce for the vacant job position
  • Proof of publication through mass media in Romania for job vacancy
  • Copy of the employer’s minutes showing the selection process for the vacant job position
  • Tax clearance certificate issued by the public finance administration in the employer’s domicile area.

However, IGI specifies that the mentioned documents should still be presented, within the legal validity period, at the office when submitting the permit application.
